If your loved one passed away in Kansas, you may order their death certificate online, by phone, by mobile app, by will call, or by mail. Details for obtaining a death certificate in these different ways are below:
1. Online
Request a death certificate online by visiting VitalChek, a third party vendor. Each copy is $15 plus a service fee of $13.95, and payments can be made by credit card.
2. By Phone
Request a death certificate by calling 1 (877) 305-8315 which is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Payments of $15 per copy plus a service fee of $13.95 can be made by credit card, and Spanish interpreters are available.
3. By Mobile App
To request a death certificate by mobile app, download “IKAN – State of Kansas” from your app store. Payments of $15 per copy plus $5 processing fee can be made by credit card.
4. Will Call
To retrieve your death certificate in person, you must have ordered the certificate either online or through the IKAN app, outlined above. You will get an email saying your certificate is ready, and to pick it up you will need to bring a government-issued photo ID plus a method of payment to the address below, which is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
