You need to continue regular car payments, maintain vehicle registration, and then transfer the car’s ownership. You cannot drive the car unless you have proper registration, and penalties will be charged if this is not done on time.

- Loan details:
- If it is not fully paid off, a completed Lienholder’s Consent to Transfer Ownership, Form TR-128 : https://www.ksrevenue.org/pdf/tr128.pdf
- If lien has been paid off, attach the lien release instead of the lien holder’s portion of the consent
- Copy of current registration or verification of ownership
- Title and Registration Manual Application TR-212a : https://www.ksrevenue.org/pdf/tr212.pdf
- Payment of title transfer fees and taxes: $10
