Tell them that you’d like to cancel or transfer the contract due to a death. Be prepared to tell them:
- The name of the deceased
- The phone number of the deceased
- Date of death
- Social Security number
- The account holder/creator’s name (if not the deceased)
- Some companies may require a certified death certificate copy
Note: The balance due on the account should be paid when the contract is canceled. You should not be charged any cancellation or transfer fees.
